Little Farms: Where Organic Harvests Meet Community and Climate Care.

The way we source and enjoy our food is changing, as more people seek transparency, freshness, and a tangible connection to the land and those who grow it. Across the food industry, there’s a rising appetite for locally grown, organic produce delivered with care—fuelled by concerns for health, climate, and the desire to support ethical, community-rooted systems. This shift is inspiring a new generation of growers and eaters who value not just what’s on their plate, but the story and stewardship behind every bite. Little Farms is a vibrant example of this movement in action. Delivering hand-packed boxes of spray-free and organic produce from a network of passionate Wairarapa growers, Little Farms connects households directly to the fields, gardens, and people who nurture their food. With a focus on regenerative practices, community resilience, and genuine relationships, every delivery is more than a meal—it’s a step towards a healthier, more connected future for land, people, and generations to come.

From garden to doorstep—this is food with a story

At the heart of Little Farms is Alex, a passionate grower, community educator, and co-founder who brings her love of the soil to life both on the ground and online. You’ll often find her with dirt under her nails, tending to the Little Farms Market Garden in Pirinoa. Alex is supported by a small, mighty team who make magic happen week after week. Nikki, our tireless operations queen, packs boxes, runs market stalls, delivers kai, and keeps customers smiling. Faith, our Wairarapa delivery driver, brings warmth to every doorstep. Fin, Reino, Haylee, and Aimee form the engine room—packing, sorting, and delivering fresh, organic goodness with precision and heart. Together, this team isn’t just delivering food—they’re building resilience, fostering relationships between urban and rural communities, and keeping the human connection alive in every delivery. You’ll taste it in every bite: this is food grown by people who care.

A climate-conscious kai system for future generations

Sustainability is woven through everything we do—from our farming practices to our packaging, to the way we plan for the future. Our growers build soil naturally, without chemical sprays, using methods like no-till, composting, and cover cropping to nourish the land instead of depleting it. Even our smallest contributors, from backyard growers to microgreen specialists, uphold high standards—proving that scale doesn’t determine integrity. We use home-compostable packaging wherever possible, and invite customers to return their boxes and soft packaging for reuse or composting. To reduce waste, our Farm Boxes come with minimal packaging and helpful tips for keeping veggies fresh (like storing herbs in water or wrapping greens in damp cloths). And resilience? It’s not just a buzzword. By subscribing to a regular Farm Box, customers help us plan ahead, support our farmers year-round, and build a food system that’s stable, sustainable, and rooted in the community. From Crop Up, our zero-waste Saturday market in Greytown, to our social media garden tips and seasonal workshops, we’re here to grow something bigger than just food. We’re here to grow a better way forward—for land, for people, and for future generations.
